The nonprofit advisory group Amplified Impact Partners has moved its headquarters from Old Town to Sorrento Valley.
“We were really outgrowing our space because the demand was so high and we wanted to be centrally located in the county,” said CEO Erica Halpern. “As our lease was up, we found a space that really can be a hub for nonprofits.”
Amplified Impact Partners helps other nonprofit organizations connect with each other and groups that can support them.
At about 2,000 square feet, the Sorrento Valley office is about twice the size of Amplified’s Old Town office, according to Halpern.
Before the move, “We were climbing out the windows, we could not fit all the people in the space that wanted to come to the training,” Halpern said.
Celebrating its 25th anniversary, Amplified has provided free support to more than 180 nonprofit organizations.
“We’ve been really increasing our reach and the number of nonprofits we’re working with,” Halpern said. “We’ve got all these individuals in the community that really want to give back and are looking for a way to do it.”
Amplified Impact Partners, formerly San Diego Social Venture Partners, changed its name in May 2025 to better reflect the organization’s work to amplify the effect other nonprofits have on the community.
“There’s nobody else doing this quite like we’re doing it in the county,” Halpern said. “We help nonprofits become stronger so they can effectively deliver whatever they do.”
Often, organizers of a nonprofit have great ideas on what they want to do, lack the experience to know how to do it, or they just lack the resources, financial or staff, Halpern said.
They may receive grants to underwrite their services, but “they don’t have systems in place to manage it properly,” Halpern said. “They don’t have staff capacity to do planning and research.”
Hiring a private consultant can cost $100,000 or more, according to Halpern.
That’s where Amplified comes in, connecting volunteers who have run businesses with the nonprofits that are looking for help.
“We can turn a great idea into an effective, scalable organization that can sustain it over the long term,” Halpern said. “Over the years, we’ve had hundreds of consultants.”
New Chapter
In 2025, Amplified had 63 teams of business professionals working with a wide range of nonprofits, according to Halpern.
“We definitely would love to have new partners. We need new partners to serve the nonprofits who need our help,” Halpern said. “We’re looking to make really good matches and bring people in.”
The new Sorrento Valley office gives Amplified the space for partners and consultants to gather and work, which it lacked in Old Town, according to Halpern.
“As we kick off our 25th anniversary year, we’re opening the doors to a new chapter of what it means to support San Diego’s nonprofits, and quite literally, opening the doors to a space where that work can happen,” Halpern said.
“There are some nonprofits in San Diego that do great work. but don’t have a brick-and-mortar location.”
They’ll get that with Amplified’s new space.
When Amplified leased the building, “It was more or less and empty office space with a couple of rooms. It was designed more to be kind of a cubicle-type office space and not a collaborative environment,” Halpern said. “We built it out to have dedicated meeting space and a conference room.”
