JENNIFER HERSHMAN

Jennifer Hershman brings more than 35 years of experience across commercial construction, utility-scale solar development, real estate development, and community impact. Her career has focused on land and building acquisitions, managing design and construction for mid- to high-rise projects, and leading pre-construction and engineering efforts for distributed generation and utility-scale solar power plants. She also brings deep expertise in community relations, government affairs, and stakeholder engagement. Jennifer retired as Director of Community Relations for a leading national renewable energy company, where she created and led a strategic community relations program supporting communities across the United States.
Throughout her career, Jennifer has partnered with local and national nonprofits focused on education and food insecurity. She has served on several boards and advisory councils, including Solar Energy International, the Solar Energy Industries Association, Boston College Corporate Citizenship, Girl Scouts San Diego, and she currently serves on the board of The Fleet Science Center. She also served as a mentor for Women in Cleantech & Sustainability in 2024 and has been recognized for her impact, including the Girl Scouts San Diego 2021 Philanthropy Partner Award and the 2020 Cleanie Award as a Community Partner. Jennifer developed multiple national STEM education initiatives, including PowerUP! Empowered Education, the Climate Controller Girl Scout patch program, and Skip the Grid, supporting off-grid solar system installations in partnership with Cal Poly San Luis Obispo for the Navajo Nation. She currently volunteers with Feeding San Diego’s school food pantry program and supports Words Alive literacy programs.
Jennifer holds a certificate in Construction Management from San Diego State University and is currently completing a Professional Certificate in Corporate Citizenship from the Carroll School of Management at Boston College.
A second-generation San Diegan, Jennifer is passionate about supporting her community. She lives in Point Loma with her husband, their lovable lab, Roxy, and has a daughter in her first year of college at the University of Oregon. Outside of work and volunteering, she is an avid reader, loves to travel, and is a self-described foodie.
