ALICIA QUINN KITAGAWA

With more than 23 years of private and nonprofit experience, Alicia Kitagawa is passionate about leveraging resources from both sectors to fuel social innovation. As Executive Director of Life Science Cares San Diego, she activates the life sciences community to fight poverty and support local nonprofits through strategic partnerships, amplified funding, and volunteer engagement. LSC San Diego awarded more than $1.9 million in grants to 20 nonprofits in 2024.

In her previous role at United Way of San Diego County, Alicia was responsible for all fundraising activities, including individual donor cultivation, corporate social responsibility, and marketing initiatives to elevate the impact and reach of the organization. As Director of Programs for Mission Edge, she designed and implemented a CSR program for Qualcomm to engage employees in skills-based volunteering in the nonprofit sector. She also implemented a social enterprise accelerator for nonprofit organizations to develop, test, and launch revenue-generating lines of business.

Alicia served as Director of Programs and Development for the Accion U.S. Network, a microfinance lender providing access to capital for underserved entrepreneurs, and Director of Programs for San Diego Social Venture Partners, which helps philanthropists maximize social impact through pro bono consulting for local nonprofits.

She began her career as an analyst at JPMorgan Chase and later served as Director of Administration at Howard Head Sports Medicine in Vail, Colorado.

Alicia holds a BS in business administration from Georgetown University and a MS in social work & social enterprise administration from Columbia University.
