JOSEPH RISSE

Joseph Risse has more than 40 years of experience in the development of large power and infrastructure projects. His career reflects a long record of achievement with a focus on efficient execution, risk management, team building, contracts, cost control, and schedule management. Risse understands the importance of external stakeholders, local communities, and strategic partnerships in ensuring project success. He currently runs his own engineering consulting business, where he supports clients in developing energy solutions, provides lender engineering expertise, manages construction claims, and advises on strategic planning, business development, risk mitigation, and contract negotiations.
Risse has contributed his expertise to community and business initiatives in a variety of ways. He served two years on the advisory board of a start-up focused on EV battery reuse, two years as president of his homeowners association, and for many years as a coach, board member, and vice president of his local little league. He has also volunteered at his church, managing contributions and finances, and participated in service projects such as helping build a schoolroom in Tijuana. In addition, he provides ongoing mentorship to young engineers as they develop their careers.
Risse holds a Master of Science in Engineering Management from West Coast University, Los Angeles; a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from SUNY Binghamton; and an Associate degree in Mechanical Design from Johnson College in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He continues his education through the UCSD Osher School of Continuing Education, where he regularly attends lectures and special events.
Risse has been married for thirty years and is the father of three grown sons. The family also includes their dog, Lucy. He enjoys the outdoors, adventure travel, music, fishing, hiking, yoga, and biking. A home brewer, Risse takes pride in sharing his beer with family and friends.
