JENNY WOO

Dr. Jenny Woo is the founder and CEO of Mind Brain Emotion, a Harvard Innovation Labs–incubated company that creates award-winning card games and mental health tools used in homes, schools and workplaces in more than 50 countries. A Harvard-trained educator and emotional intelligence researcher, she created the bestselling games 52 Essential Conversations and 52 Essential Coping Skills, and she teaches emotional intelligence at UC Irvine, where she designed the Emotional Intelligence Certificate Program for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars. Her earlier career spans human capital consulting at Deloitte, executive coaching at Cisco, MBA career coaching at UC Berkeley and Montessori school leadership. She is a frequent keynote and commencement speaker whose work has been featured in Forbes, Fortune, CNBC, Time, Fast Company and Business Insider.

Woo serves on the board of Horizons San Diego, which provides tuition-free academic and enrichment programming for students from under-resourced communities. She has created interventions and programs for children and families with United Way, Boys & Girls Clubs and PBS, and previously served a two-year appointed term on the City of Irvine Childcare Committee, advising the city on childcare needs and policy. She has also volunteered with Junior Achievement USA and Habitat for Humanity.

Woo holds a Ph.D. in Education from the University of California, Irvine, where her research focused on social emotional learning interventions and mental health for K-16 students with a special focus on people of color. She earned an Ed.M. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, where she served as a Harvard Teaching Fellow and incubated her company through the Harvard Innovation Labs, and she also holds an MBA from UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business.

Woo is married with three teenage children. She was a certified personal trainer in her 20s, so she is focused on mind-body connection, health and longevity, and she rock climbs with friends two to three times a week, while two of her children climb on the competitive team.
